Why I Started House Sitting (And Why I Wish I Started Sooner)

I started house sitting last year, and I honestly wish I’d started sooner.
At the time, I was travelling to South Wales regularly — at least once a month — to view properties to add to my portfolio (I’m a property investor). I’d cram 8 viewings into one day, rushing from one house to the next. It was tiring, and I wasn’t really taking my time with each property — which can be costly.
Since I started house sitting, things have changed massively. I can stay in South Wales for longer — sometimes for weeks — and keep my expenses low while I’m there. It means I can view properties at short notice, spend more time leaflet dropping for off-market deals, and stay in different areas to really get to know them.
What I didn’t expect is that house sitting would help me meet private investors as well to scale my property portfolio. Visit my website for more on that.
Another huge part of it is that I genuinely love animals. I’ve grown up around them, and I find looking after pets really grounding. I’ve looked after dogs, cats, reptiles, horses — you name it. House sitting lets me combine all of that with my work in property, and I love how it all fits together.
Now I offer house sitting as a professional service. I look after homes and pets across the UK, mostly in South Wales and Hampshire. I bring my property background with me too — so I’m mindful of how homes are looked after, and I notice the little things.
If you’re going away and want someone reliable to care for your home and animals, feel free to get in touch.
